Museums & Attractions

The Deep - Situated where the River Hull meets the Humber, this stunning building houses one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world.

Wilberforce House - Museum exploring slavery and it's abolition. Birthplace of William Wilberforce. FREE ENTRY.

Hull & East Riding Museum - See roman mosaics, an iron age village and a well preserved iron age log boat. Aswell as many more historical artifacts related to the region. FREE ENTRY.

Ferens Art Gallery - Fine collection of international renown, including masterpeices of Dutch and Flemish origin. Enjoy a drink in the cafe. FREE ENTRY.

Street life Museum - Charting 200 years of transport history with a good collection of vintage cars, motorcycles, trams and buses. FREE ENTRY

Hands on history - A beautiful Tudor building that for 300 years housed Hull Grammar School. Exhibits covering Victorian Britain and the story of Hull and it's people. There is also a collection of  full size replicas of treasures found in the tomb of the Egyptian  Pharaoh, Tutankhamen. FREE ENTRY

Maratime Musem - Housed in the magnificent former Dock Offices on Queen Victoria Square. Exhibits covering Hull's whaling, fishing and sea trading past. FREE ENTRY 

Arctic Corsair - Fishing vessel berthed on the River Hull. Get an insight in to the life of the deep sea fishermen who sailed from the City. FREE ENTRY by guided tour. Book at museums quarter reception

Dinostar - Yorkshire's only dinosaur attraction. Located in the Fuit Market area.

Holy Trinity church - Visit the awe inspiring, largest parish church in England. Over 700 years old and actually larger than a lot of Cathredals. Trinity Square, old town.

 

Shopping

St. Stephens - Covered Shopping street next to the new transport interchange. High street stores and massive Tesco supermarket. A selection of restaurants and large cinema.

Prince's Quay - Shopping centre built over former dock on the edge of the old Town.

Trinity Market - Indoor market hall with over 50 stalls run by independent traders. Fresh produce and many other services.

Hepworth's Arcade - Victorian arcade in the old Town with a choice of independent shops.

Prospect centre - Shopping centre on northern edge of City Centre. Familiar national stores and local specialist shops.

Beverley - Lovely old Yorkshire market town filled with many small and independant shops. Famous horse racing venue. 10 miles North of Hull City Centre.

 

Walks

Guided walks - Guided tours including the excellent, old town tour. Discover 800 years of history aswell as hiden architectual gems. Apr-Oct. Enquire at tourist information, Victoria Square

Fish trail - Tour of the old town and waterfront. Seeking out an A-Z of fishes sculptered into the pavements. Leaflet from tourist information centre.

 Ale trail - Tour of some of the city's historic pubs. See (amongst other things) the smallest window in England and the 17th century ”plotting parlour”. Tourist information centre.

 Walking with Wilberforce - Follow in the footsteps of William Wilberforce, the slavery abolitionist. Discover the places he would have known in the Early 19th Century. Wiberforce House, High Street.

 

Some Places to Visit

Victoria pier - Where the City Centre meets the Humber Estuary. Peaceful, boardwalked area, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the views over to Lincolnshire.

Humber promenade - Enjoy a bracing walk along the banks of the Humber. Walk as far as you like, maybe as far as the the gleaming ferries in the distance, but remember you have to walk back!

Queen's gardens - Ornemental gardens with lawned areas for recreational use. Situated in the very centre of the City this was once the largest working dock in the country.

Humber Bridge Country Park - Nature reserve in the shadow of the bridge. A haven for wildlife. Explore the trails that wander through the woods and meadows. 4 miles West of City. Large car park.

Humber Bridge - Take a stroll over the the famous landmark and enjoy the views back towards the City

Waters' edge country park - South bank nature reserve. Wetland habitat supporting an abundance of wildfowl. Drive over the bridge towards Barton upon Humber.

Fort Paull - Napoleonic Fortress wth views over the Humber. Explore 500 years of history. 7 miles East of Hull City Centre.

Spurn point - Unique, narrow spit of land extending 3½ miles out into the mouth of the Humber Estuary. Walking, fishing and birdwatching. 20 miles East of Hull.

Beverley minster - Large church that dominates the area of Holderness and the Wolds. Work was started in 1220 and took over 200 years to complete. 10 miles North of Hull.

 Bridlington - Traditional seaside resort with excellent beaches and charming harbour. 25 miles North East of Hull.

 

Theatre

Hull New Theatre- One of Englands foremost touring venues. Housed in a grade II listed building with performances of drama, musicals, opera, ballet etc...

Hull Truck Theatre - New £15 million venue for the famous theatre production company, Hull Truck. 440 seat main auditorium and 134 seat studio theatre.

 

Sport 

K C Stadium - Home to Association Football, Hull City AFC and Rugby League, Hull RLFC. Set  in a Victorian park and within easy walking distance of City Centre.

Craven Park - Stadium in East Hull. Home to the Rugby League club Hull Kingston Rovers

Costello Stadium - Floodlit athletics venue in West Hull.

Hull Arena- 2000 seat arena and skating rink. Venue for occasional concerts and home to proffesional ice hockey club, Hull Stingrays.
